Buddhist musings... and meanderings

Image
Like other litigious societies, we have become over-doctored and looking for that magic pill to make us well and feel satisfied. Perhaps it would be better to consider stress, lack of closure to poor past relationships, anger or jealousy as causes for our poor health... and then correct our errors. - Domo Geshe Rinpoche --- Sharing happiness is actually what is done in the dharma practice of the first of the Four Great Wishes. This trains us to share our cultivated joy and not simply hold it as a personal possession. The second of the Great Wishes strong...

Dreams and other Buddhist musings

Image
Ordinary dreams are usually the reflections of daytime nonsense or the result of unresolved stress. For serious meditators, however, dreams could become nighttime activities such as inner training, strongly feeling that he or she has been attending dharma teachings or even performing acts of compassion ~Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~~ "Gewöhnliche Träume spiegeln normalerweise Unsinn aus dem Tagesgeschehen wider oder sind das Ergebnis von unbewältigtem Stress. Für ernsthaft Übende können Träume jedoch zu nächtlichen Aktivitäten werden, wie zu innerem Training, zu dem Gefühl, an Dharmaunterweisungen teilgenommen oder sogar mitfühlende Handlungen ausgeübt zu haben." - Domo Geshe Rinpoche --- Satisfaction in the Buddhist approach is a continuous mental nourishment not dependant upon desires being met in order to be happy in one’s self "Mit buddhistischer Herangehensweise ist Befriedigung eine stetige geistige Nahrung, bei der es nicht davon abhängt, dass Wün...

Unstress the Tantric Way

Image
Feeling stressed right now? Would you kindly take a deep breath, take a deep inhalation and whoosh it all out strongly through the mouth and hold the exhale for a short time. Lower your shoulders, drop the stress, just let it fall away from you. Take another deep breath and see if there is a little bit more clear space opened up..... but this time visualize how you would feel without any problem s. That's probably starting to feel a little bit better. It might be good to do later also to train yourself to use an easy and effective remedy. Letting out your breath like this acts as an escape valve; it also releases some of the energetic support which is fastening our problems to us. When we are clenching, that can actually hold the problem in place. What we need to do is decompress and send away that energetic strut. Thinking about the problem will be hard when there is no cushion for it to sit on. This is Tantric yogic breath. ~ Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~~ ********* „Fühlst du dich ge...

Healing Stress

Image
We all need to return to a more stable form of our self, with a stable interior referent. For example, over the summer, a schoolteacher might have a chance to spend time alone, enjoying them self by reading, walking through the woods and relaxing….. But returning to school in the fall and over the school year, by  May or June, he or she, hardly recognizes them self again ! The healing from the previous summer is gone! Many teachers feel as if their feet are held to the fire for nine long months! A competent, intelligent, but suffering person, (no matter what their job), can hardly wait to have time to be alone to find them self once again! However, each time they get back to feeling them self again, they aren’t them self anymore, because they did not reach the level of a stabilized referent. When they did take time off to recover, they did either did not have enough time or do it strongly enough to heal the stress completely. Not feeling very happy, they instea...

Thought for Thursday on divine assistance (read in Eng,Sp,Fr,Ger,It)

Image
“The first type of prayer is for our self. No one knows the specific hopelessness of a situation better than you do because you are an expert on yourself! So, as the supreme expert on your own life, you already have an idea of what is possible and what seems absolute impossible. What is possible, you do not pray for, because you just do it without needing a miracle to make it a reality. If you think, 'I am hungry,' and there is food in the kitchen, you do not need to pray, you just go to the kitchen and make food. Like that, most things in life you are already capable of doing yourself without divine assistance. However, when something just does not make sense, or you are incapable of accomplishing a task, worry and anxiety increase. If a student has not prepared for an examination and time is running out, perhaps they decide that praying for a miracle is the only answer. Missing classes and without studying, they still hope to get a good grade. Under stress, you, the one who i...

Interdimensional Lines of Communication

Image
“Important inter dimensional lines of communication between an ordinary person and the connected actual being interior are muddied by the inappropriate and damaging display of anger, stress and other delusions. However, they are muddied most of all by the ordinary belief that the outer person is the one who is alive, owning an inner life that belongs to them. Quite the opposite!”

When a Healer Burns Out

Image
I empathize for those who suffer problems with co-workers, who feeling trapped in a work environment where they experience anger from co-workers, clients or patients.  Built up minor stress causes annoyance but long-term problems affect health, well being and can end careers if we can't change the way we interact with others.  For those in the helping professions, healer burnout isn't easy to identify and resolve. Many valuable and fine people have already burned out and given up trying to find a cure. You might even be someone that is experiencing early signs of burnout yourself, or see it happening to a friend or a dear one. What is the average career of a healer? I heard it was 3 years. This isn't very long by comparison to the amount of preparation and study that goes into that career.   Many nurses are disappointed in their expectations of how their career as a caregiver was going to be. I gave a teaching called Utilizing Compassion in the Face of Anger discu...

Chemistry of Change part four

Image
How do we perceive the connection between stress and change? Change is by nature stressful because it is dismantling, reshaping, and moving energetic patterns into new configurations. That means that some perceptions that we use often are now placed into a minor role. New perceptions that are unfamiliar are now expected to perform a new role flawlessly, without practice, and that is stressful to new perceptions! Some people want to be completely certain how they will react to stress before they subject themselves to situations that might be stressful. They want to have assurance that they can endure the feeling of living with the new them, without resorting to old habits and reactivating poor strategies. For example, our dear old cranky cousin Joe had decided to become more loving and more spiritual. However, when Joe encountered “guff” from his family and friends he could not help himself and pushed his new loving method on them in an aggressive way to show them just how spiri...

Chemistry of Change (part two)

Image
There are many sensations occurring in the body and mind of meditators that are unexplainable by medical or psychological science. When these are happening to a new meditator already confused about whether they are doing it correctly, every sensation seems to indicate that there is something wrong. Many meditators become excessively concerned and actually create physical or mental issues where none exist by the inadvertent misuse of the power of sacred energies awakening in meditation. That is why it is very important to maintain a happy and auspicious outlook as old habits are being dismantled in meditation practice and those energies that have been stuck in poor dynamics are being freed. I hope that what is discussed here will help you understand that these are fairly normal indications of changes. Meditators might have feelings and changes of physical flexibility. We may feel that there is a lot of energy causing stiffness in the shoulders and neck. Perhaps before, the head tu...

Search for Truth (part six)

Image
From the previous column it was said that angst can become a generalized frustration or anger about life and specifically stressful because of not being able to do what we want. That is why this energy needs to be directed or channeled carefully so that we do not move into the dysfunctional next step of blaming others. We so often hold others responsible for our lack of time or life situation, or complain that others are preventing us from being a spiritual seeker or truth seeker. We might view people at work that seem to be thwarting us or we become sorry that we have no time because we have to earn a living. It becomes all the fault of others. This can accumulate and we can forget exactly what it was that we were trying to do, namely, break free. This can lead to the uncomfortable situation and its accompanying feelings self replicating into habitual bad moods. Caught up in our feelings of blaming and the objects of that blame, we can lose sight of our actual inner process int...
