Clarity and Expectations

Image
Clarity, an important goal of meditation practice, is the condition of consciousness without obscuration of the dysfunctions. Perfection is of another order completely, the ultimate inner state of highest Buddhahood. Because clarity is wi thout agenda, it is an openness that allows receptivity to higher functioning. - Domo Geshe Rinpoche --- Inappropriate expectations are like spring flowers blooming in late winter; they won't last long. ~ Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~~ "Unangemessene Erwartungen sind wie Frühlingsblumen, die im späten Winter blü...

Displacing Perfection

Image
Regarding the path of preparation to the awakened state, the delusions are displacing perfection. Practicing the delusions will never result in discovering perfection. - Domo Geshe Rinpoche -- Teaching Dharma advances the view of karma in order to improve it. Each day has a special meditation to sample new views of the intricacies of root, rot and rejoice karma.

Perfection Permeates All Realms

Image
Perfection permeates all realms but is unseen and inaccessible. The veils and barriers to it become solidified over time and require special circumstances and dedication to dissolve. - Domo Geshe Rinpoche

Thought for Monday on freedom (read in Eng,Sp,Fre,Ger,Ital

Image
"Buddhist Mahayana texts describe and link awakening to a very special mind, creating a powerful wish to be free. Because there are tremendous obstacles to achieving this, great opposing remedies must be used. It is somewhat like animal activists opening cages to free lab animals, but most just sit in their cages, the only place they ever knew, because they do not know what freedom is. As intelligent people,we have a natural awakening to wish to be free. It is an anxiety but a good kind that causes us to set out on a journey to still that inner disturbance. Perhaps we wish to experience the energetic rush of white-water rafting, go to Hawaii, or experience what it is like in sacred Machu Piccu to feel free. We want to fix the world around us to free us of this anxiety so we see our problem "out there.” “If only nuclear power plants were closed down, I know the world would be a happy place.” So, they shut as many as they can, and when they close down the last one, will the wor...

Exactly What is it That You Want Now?

Image
Are we clear as to the value of the goal, or have we become distracted by developing other skills that will only lead us back to further rebirth, instead of transformation with the special trajectory toward perfection? This is how we thought in Tibet about worldly goals and activities ~ Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~~ ¿" estamos claros en cuanto al valor del objetivo, o nos hemos hecho distraídos desarrollando otras habilidades que sólo nos llevarán atrás al renacimiento adicional, en vez de la transformación con la trayectoria especial hacia la perfección? Esto es como pensamos en Tíbet en objetivos mundanos y actividades" ~ a Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~~ "Sommes nous clair concernant les valeurs du but, ou avons nous été distrait en développant d'autres habilités qui ne nous ramènerons seulement qu'à d'autres renaissances, au lieu d'une transformation avec une trajectoire spéciale vers la perfection ? C'est ainsi que nous pensions au Tibet concernant les buts et...

Cultivating New Attitudes (Part three)

Image
These examples from part two such as sleep, daydreaming and lost in rummaging through past memories you are already familiar. These show that your awareness could be either elsewhere or little aware while the world and activities are going on around you. However, this becomes a habitual method to hold your energy by perceiving your present moment as either in the future or in the past. I gave a teaching focusing on this subject called Cultivating Joy. It is very interesting and also has some meditations to help find the present moment. Some people use body awareness meditations or techniques in order to control or reduce fascination with mental events that prevent them from experiencing the feeling of being present. There are many body calming or mind calming meditations that will also help us to become more balanced or remain centered. The mind can then find some temporary rest and be aware without dwelling in the past or the future. Even with techniques to control your reactiv...

The Dumbing Down of Our True Nature (part three)

Image
All Buddhists pray to the inhabitants of the great realms of learning and progress such as the pure lands of the Buddhas and the bodhisattvas, in their realms, requesting release of the practitioner from the suffering human realm experience, isn't that so? These realms are visualized in Tantric practice and are described so the meditator can make connections to the Buddha and guidance beings associated with the Great Path to perfection of that higher realm. Enlightened beings that emanate into this world to benefit those living under the acknowledged imperfect conditions here encourage people to not think this world is a final destiny of their evolution. As I have said in a previous column, science is now agreeing with Buddhism regarding the nature of physical reality. Science is now beginning the exploration of the interface between consciousness and the world. For example, the erratic behavior of an electron stabilizes due to perception and has location, otherwise it only rem...

Emptiness and Bliss Mystery Solved

Image
Part 3. Perfection is possible and is unrestricted to manifest in any form in any realm. Perfection, in the form of a teacher guiding us to enlightenment is capable of appearing in inner as well as outer forms, reminding us, giving teachings and calling us to our true home when we are lost. However, the actual student and recipient of care is deep interior to the outside person and is more energetic in nature than thinking. What it does understand is energetics far more complex than the human mind can process. If the preparation for change is done correctly, the inner being experiences a correct love dynamic that it cannot understand but is attracted to in its own more sophisticated method and it causes a powerful pleasurable effect in its subtle being. The reason why we experience this activity as bliss in the outer mind is that something is happening in the inner minds that cannot be understood in the way we admire and demand understanding. For almost all meditators, even cl...

Higher Insight and Buddhist Love

Image
Part 2. Love of our Buddhist practice changes our mental outlook on what is important and what is not important. We might even find special secret delight to see our meditation cushion, our altar objects, or even our mala prayer beads. You should treat this delight respectfully and not have false sophistication or be cynical saying to yourself, " Oh, how silly of me, I am acting like a kid. " Maintain a very careful love relationship with your meditation practice. I do not know, maybe sometimes you could hug your mala. Personally, it delights me inside to express joy of practice in this very clean and innocent manner. A meditator might sometime experience anxiety about their practice objects such as who do I allow to touch them, are they good enough quality or imbuing them with too much solidification. In order to overcome these and other issues regarding our own Buddhist objects, we are trained to understand that even these things we love as part of our practice arise...

Compassion of the Wisdom Buddha

Image
part 2 Let us leave aside how ordinary people see compassion, and think a bit about correct training in the human development of compassion and other higher levels. So, there are training stages possible; correct human compassion, then compassion training of the learner bodhisattvas, and finally, training in Great Compassion that comes from the perfected state. Human beings are capable of learning correct uses of their outer bases or outer/inner bases in order to understand correct compassion. The outer sense bases are eye, ear etc connected to inner eye, inner ear up to consciousness/awareness interacting with self, others and the environment. This activity is almost always restlessly processing energetic data into meaning to be used as inner strategy for being alive where the primary awareness resides (whatever level that might be). This data easily becomes polluted by anger, trauma and other dysfunctions that prevent the altruistic motivation of compassion to be alive. The healin...
