Becoming Liberated and other Buddhist musings....

Image
The promise of the Buddha to save all sentient beings does not mean that they will all enter the state of Buddhahood. There are many different ways to be saved, one of them is called liberation. The lower forms of liberation that living beings can enter would be a true cessation: the end of their spiritual search and future lives. However, that is not a bodhisattva altruistic goal. Rather, it is  to refuse the pull of the lower liberation in order to become even more skillful and benefit as many as possible. This is the way that bodhisattvas fully blossom and become buddhas.... eventually.

Enlightened Generosity and other Musings

In the act of enlightened generosity, the doer, the action, and the receiver are all perceived as empty of inherent existence. By only intellectually understanding the non-inherent existence of these three elements that comprise higher generosity, one can generate a false realization that is not aligned with the awakening process. One might even gain a realization that is beneficial, but the enti re thought process is primarily a constructed educational realization. When making efforts to practice Bodhisattva type generosity, it is an error to believe that you are not real and the receiver is not real, but the action is real, or that you are not real, the action is not real, but the recipient is. Others who believe that only the action is real but the giver and the receiver are not real affirm the action of giving as the real thing that is happening, but it still lacks the marks of reality and is not a transcendent view. Lastly, the one who states that the action and receiver are i...

Enlightened Giving

Mental hygiene means being careful to what you expose yourself. ~DGR~~~ Thinking about others in general, without giving names or identities, will help toward understanding more about all sentient beings. ~DGR ~~~ A light meal in the evening makes it easier to meditate. However, good friends and great big meal are quite appropriate also! Today the wind is blowing from the south, but afterward, it will shift to another direction. May the winds of my mind be calm and steady, not always changing directions. May my efforts be stable and wisdom be my guide. May the mind of each living beings become steady as the great oak on a windless day, rooted deep while rising tall. Möge der Geist aller lebenden We...
