Inner and Outer Standards for Buddhist Teachings
There are inner and outer criteria or standards for dharma teachings. For Buddhists, outer standards are based on the teachings of Lord Buddha, both the definitive teachings on emptiness as well as teachings called requiring interpretation. No Buddhist teachings should contradict the definitive category. The inner stan dards of the path to perfection, (called complete and total Buddhahood), do not belong to the human realm, they belong to higher beings such as buddhas and tantric realms.
