Karma, Personalized Prayer and other musings

Karma is complex. Positive, negative, neutral, individual, group karma or more. Ripened, manifest, seed form, throwing, completion, or skillfully exhausted by the energy of the event. Still, we can discuss good and bad karma in a superficial way and get some benefit”~Domo Geshe Rinpoche~~ "Karma ist kompliziert. Positiv, negativ, neutral, individuell, Gruppenkarma und mehr. Gereift, manifest, in Samenform, werfend, vollendet oder kunstfertig durch die Energie des Ereignisses erschöpft. Und doch können wir gutes und schlechtes Karma auf oberflächliche Weise diskutieren und trotzdem noch einen Nutzen davon haben." - Domo Geshe Rinpoche ---~ Karma es complejo. Prayer Heals the Relationship with Your Inner Being

Image
Prayer is a kind of detente between the ordinary person and the inner being/soul/actual being. Infusing meaning to traditional prayers energizes the relationship between inner and outer beings in a wholesome manner. That in turn, allows inner being to meaningfully relate to Buddha/God/Allah in accordance to its capabi lity for inner joy. Domo Geshe Rinpoche ---

A Prayer for Those on The Path and other subjects

Image
A Prayer for Those on the Path By the 9th Domo Geshe Rinpoche May all living beings, who are perfection itself and do not know it, find the best of paths and preparation for entry into that understanding. May all who prepare carefully toward that understanding make the great wish to be of profound benefit to all living beings. May all who aspire to be of benefit find the best of training. May all who find the training, finish and integrate it with profound wisdom without taking personal gain. May those accomplished beings, trained and ripe in wisdom, be allowed to work for the benefit of living beings. May living beings listen carefully. May all living beings, who are perfection itself and do not know it, find the best of paths and preparation for entry into that understanding. ~~~ "Ein Gebet für Jene, die auf dem Pfad sind Verfasst vom 9. Vibrant Prayers

Image
What is our connection with the outcome of our prayers? If we are not vibrantly motivated with a goal, we are just praying in a circle. "I am praying because prayer is good, and prayer is good, and that is why I pray, and so prayer is good, and I am praying it, and good." We might have an admiration of prayer, but if it does not penetrate the mind, it is ineffective. However, prayer often has a lulling and soothing quality, causing that person to feel better, and as though something has happened when in fact nothing has happened. It is like cold mashed potatoes to achieve a result. Prayer is exciting and highly energizing, but we need a relationship with the outcome of prayer. There are elements to careful prayer to make it effective. One is invocation. If there is no higher power request or invocation to please be present, then we have no relationship to the outcome of prayer. Now Pray Without Boundaries

Image
As a result of feeling optimistic by successfully praying for individuals, we might wish to begin praying for all living beings. Our renewed self-confidence in practicing compassion through prayer might cause us to want to act as a model for other living beings to return to healthy relationships and good physical, mental, financial conditions. Feeling that what works on an individual basis, should also work for everybody! Why not pray for all living beings? However, to do that properly you need to discover different parameters for this form of prayer. Now we need new levels of faith in higher being while praying for all living beings without regard to your personal relationship with them. This means that you do not know them, and will not get any feedback at all. No one will tell you, "My elbow was hurting yesterday, and now it feels better. Thank you for your prayers." Eventually and with practice, we will be able to pray for all living beings, whomever or wherever they ...

Thought for Monday on compassion prayers (read in Eng,Sp,Fr,Ger,It)

Image
We do prayer for individual others that we truly care about who are in need. We pray for someone who is ill or less capable of dealing with problems and their situation has aroused our compassion. If they could heal themselves all alone, they would already be okay, but like us, suffering overwhelms and they often become incapable of praying for themselves effectively. We can even pray for them in ways they are not capable of praying for themselves. Prayer for others going through a life change is advocating for them out of compassion. Perhaps prayer can act like honey over your dear friends relationship problem so that everything comes back again sweet and careful as before. It is very nice to pray for others, and even though we might not be an expert on their life and problems, we want to feel that our compassion for others will compensate and have a good effect. In addition, people always hope that their well-meaning compassion will override any incompetence on their part. They might...

Thought for Friday on annoyed prayer (read in Eng,Sp,Fr,Ger,It)

Image
“Children have wonderful prayers, delighting us in their simplicity and innocent logic. For example, in wishing for a puppy but getting something else that they really did not want, maybe God, who sends wanted puppies and unwanted baby brothers, did not quite hear carefully. This early form of prayer is still inside us somewhere and so, requests becomes more demanding, but within the dynamics of that spontaneous prayer. If we become annoyed with God or higher power, there will be fewer “spiritual” qualities attached, until we just get tired of trying. 'I am not going to pray anymore because nobody is listening, and if they are, they just do not love me. So now, I do not care for them either, and I am going to just make a lot of money so that I do not need anybody else to answer my prayers.’ When that did not work out as well as we thought it might, one might think, 'Okay, let me try spirituality and prayer again, for a while.' Like that, around and around we go, trying to f...

Thought for Thursday on divine assistance (read in Eng,Sp,Fr,Ger,It)

Image
“The first type of prayer is for our self. No one knows the specific hopelessness of a situation better than you do because you are an expert on yourself! So, as the supreme expert on your own life, you already have an idea of what is possible and what seems absolute impossible. What is possible, you do not pray for, because you just do it without needing a miracle to make it a reality. If you think, 'I am hungry,' and there is food in the kitchen, you do not need to pray, you just go to the kitchen and make food. Like that, most things in life you are already capable of doing yourself without divine assistance. However, when something just does not make sense, or you are incapable of accomplishing a task, worry and anxiety increase. If a student has not prepared for an examination and time is running out, perhaps they decide that praying for a miracle is the only answer. Missing classes and without studying, they still hope to get a good grade. Under stress, you, the one who i...

Five Distinct Types of Prayer

Image
" In order to understand prayer and be able to pray more effectively, let us look at five different methods or kinds of prayer. Number one: We pray for ourselves and our own needs to be met. Number two: We pray for individual others interceding to higher power on their behalf. Number three is altruistic prayer for all living beings. Number four: Prayer for our enemies to stop harming others and to find peace. The last is sincere prayer for spiritual development or evolution. These are five very distinct kinds of prayer but often, our inner feelings and understanding could mix together to sabotage our sincere efforts. For example we might set out to pray for all living beings, but end up praying for ourselves. We want to pray for our enemies, but sometimes we pray for our enemies as kind of an anti-prayer. We pray for bad things to happen to our enemies and only good things to happen to our friends" ~ Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~~ "Fünf völlig verschiedene Arten des Gebets ...

The Power of Prayer (part one)

Image
Imagine in front of us a giant faceted diamond representing the Dharma in its entirety. It is filled with a special light that sparkles so much that we don't know quite what to think or have an opinion about it. Also imagine, if you can, that we as a group move to a particular window, a single facet of this enormous diamond. I invite you to gaze into that window with me, peering toward something in the center. We are looking at the core, which is the nature of reality, and we can do it by concentrating on a particular facet. We are standing in front of the wonderful diamond window of dharma to explore for whatever amount of time that we are here together. Time is so valuable and scarce. You know the rubber bands around broccoli? I keep them because they are so substantial that they invite themselves to be kept, and yet I rarely reuse them. Why? Because when they're stretched, they're too strong. In a way you've been pulled away from other activiti...

“You know the rubber bands around broccoli? I keep them because they are so substantial that they really invite themselves to be kept, and yet I rarely use them. Why? Because when stretched, they are too strong. Like that, just now, you have been pulled away from everyday activities, and our time here holds us together like a broccoli rubber band. At any moment, the compression will be released and we will all come apart from our gathering. Ping! You go back to Google drifting, TV, your books or your knitting, whatever it is that holds you there, but you have been stretched to be with us here, which is not bad” ~Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~~ excerpt from Power of Prayer http://www.white-conch.com/mm5/merchant.mvc? in English ¿" sabes las gomas alrededor del brécol? Los guardo porque ellos son tan sustanciales que ellos realmente se invitan a ser guardados, y aún raramente los uso. ¿Por qué? Como cuando estirado, ellos son demasiado fuertes.
