What are some of the ways that we preserve the dharma for the future? Doing our practice, of course, but what about supporting or even starting a dharma center, so that others can come and hear the dharma? Wherever you are, why not invite  a Buddhist teacher to come to give a dharma teaching… even if it is in your home. You could organize dharma teachings in your home state or your home country and invite your friends and family. Invite teachers and do the activities to organize so that the dharma can reach many and help them to overcome suffering. Preserve the dharma by recording, transcribing, translating and caring for the teachings for others to receive them in the future. Perhaps you are even capable of not just recording and preserving, but disseminating the teachings that have been given.

Clenching, Free Podcast, and other Buddhist musings....

Inappropriate tension holds us into clenched patterns that engage this inappropriate “muscle” of the brain, which then churns out excess energy in the form of random thinking, sometimes called the monkey mind. Strain switches on this kind  of thinking. This, in turn, creates occlusions, a darkening, or inner change and clarity possibilities disappear. As soon as we tighten and the shoulders rise up, we are trying too hard. We will need to sit back and relax, but not fall asleep. This is the part where you and your bones need to have a good relationship, because often, meditators accustomed to clenching their energy find that as soon as they relax, they fall asleep. So, I am expecting you budding yogis and yoginis to stay awake and still be relaxed. This relaxation/alert response is one of the themes that we will need to be reminded of again and again: relaxed on the outside, and alert on the inside. I hope it comes to you; it works for me. In a way it feels almost like my bon...

The worldview of an individual must be seamless. A damaged worldview is a sign of mental illness... when things don't make sense anymore and the individual doesn't have the inner resources to fix it to make it make sense.  The worldview of  an enlightened being is not broken... it has become transformed due to closure of subtle stress in the deep vital mind. The process must be done slowly and skillfully so that one does not damage the worldview without another better one cultivated and nearly in place. This is the long term value of steady daily meditation; a gradual healing of confusion that has wrongly cemented a false worldview in place instead of an aligned worldview with reality. This is dharma!

I have often thought about the speed of different life forms. Perhaps the slow loris or the snail might not be able to see us well... we might appear to their perceptions as a blur. The hummingbird moves so quickly.... we might seem to them  as if we moved like snails. Inner beings move at a greater speed because their perceptions are not as encumbered as the dense human mind however, clarity inner beings, such as buddhas are effortlessly quick, even appearing in many places at once.
