Karma, Personalized Prayer and other musings

Karma is complex. Positive, negative, neutral, individual, group karma or more. Ripened, manifest, seed form, throwing, completion, or skillfully exhausted by the energy of the event. Still, we can discuss good and bad karma in a superficial way and get some benefit”~Domo Geshe Rinpoche~~

- Domo Geshe Rinpoche ---~

the gentle breeze is seducing my mind into believing that samsara is all good...
This story has been told and retold in many different ways. A lama gave his difficult student a hammer and a box of nails, telling him, “Each time you have an angry thought, I’m asking you to go to the back fence of our monastery and pound a nail into it.” The first day there were about 50 new nails pounded into the fence. The next day there were almost as many. However, the next day there were fewer nails because the monk student was observing when an angry thought was about to arise. It might also have been tied to the chore of needing to find the hammer, get the nail, and hammering it into the fence at all hours of the day and night.
One day, he felt quite proud because there were no new nails at all pounded into the fence. His lama then said, “This is very good, my son. Now, for every full day that you do not have negative thoughts, pull out one nail.” So, over a great amount of time, the monk eventually pulled out all of the nails. “Now there’s no sign that I had ever been angry,” he told his teacher. In his wisdom, his lama took him to the fence and pointed out, “Now see what is left after you pulled out the nails.” Together they observed all of the holes in the fence after anger had been both produced and faded away. “This represents the harm that you brought to others from your anger. These are the scars in our community that are produced by anger.” This is dharma! ~ Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~~

. ~ Domo Geshe Rinpoche
just standing here looking at the seedlings that were planted recently, tomatoes and other vegies and flowers that are now growing. One small tomato can grow dozens of new tomato plants producing hundreds of pounds of tomatoes!
This is like karmic seeds that we sow in the dirt of accumulated delusions.... later we will be forced to harvest a multitude of suffering.... may living beings become free, whole and happy."
To gain insight into the Buddha’s words and the sacred texts that explain them, we will need to develop an authentic interior wisdom to “study” these. Rare and precious living texts of the Dharma are the basis for higher inner practices of very advanced meditators. One of them is the Kadampa emanation scripture that is still being carefully guarded in deep lineage. However, even before authentic wisdom is in place, it is possible for everything to come as teaching for the outer mind of a sincere practitioner. What a miracle that the outer path of dharma understanding is still available to us in this world! ~ Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~~

-Domo Geshe Rimpoche

The path of preparation for awakening is not just for the intelligent, for those with privilege or disseminated for those who are ready to change. The Buddhadharma encompasses 84,000 teachings for people is whatever stage they are presently. ~DGR ~~~
I encourage you to create one standard personal prayer to recite aloud or silently every day before entering your workplace. Some of the elements might be to affirm that personal problems and issues are left aside, to give full attention to the needs of the company, patients, or project and to maintain good motivation. Write it down and memorize it.
At the end of the workday prepare another personal prayer to recite daily. This one affirms that work is now finished, and that you are returning full control of the rest of the day to yourself to do other things without the distraction of work concerns or office politics. ~Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~~~

- Domo Geshe Rinpoche ---
