Dialogue with Students, Facing Problems

Image
Pure illusory is how the Buddhas emanations are present in the human realm and also how they reside in the god realms. The process that creates the illusory has a less dense appearance which is the emanator. This is not complicated unless  we are upside down in our thinking by believing that the gross is capable of emanating subtle forms and not the other way around! The main problem is the contamination of the illusory...like someone running after a mirage of water, trying to get a drink! Illusory only means that the appearance is not the actual way it exists... An important part of Buddhist study and meditation is to correct errors by penetrating meanings and correcting the view. As a Buddhist teacher, I am very aware of new buddhists who are looking for a religion that matches what they already believe; if it doesn't.. they leave to find another place that "resonates" with their own ideas! Those that stay will find new meanings ... ~ Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~~ “ Es...

With Eyes Facing Outward .....

In the courtyard of Ganden Jangtse Monastery in South India, I saw a large statue of Gandhi in the debate courtyard, the entryway to this beautiful monastery. I was inspired to remember that Gandhi taught that brotherhood and nonviolence ne ver comes from giving up, but from arises from deep logic; aggressive conflict was not going to succeed. Gandhi suffered long before he was able to shift to nonviolence as a core value. Like Gandhi, our Buddhist practice helps us understand that just because we have compassion and love toward someone that has done wrong doesn’t mean we agree with them. That would be false compassion. Turn the heart, and realize that the wild flow within the mind is what needs to be tamed. This is dharma! ~ Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~~ "Im Innenhof des Ganden Jangtse Klosters in Südindien sah ich auf dem Debattierplatz, dem Eingang zu diesem wunderschönen Kloster, eine große Statue von Gandhi. The Center of Awareness Gravity.. The Heart Center

This wonderful world is a specialized arena for evolutionary practice. If all goes well, in part, we will perfect our capacity to get along with others, the second great lesson of life. The main problem that we face is a naturally arising  sense of “others” before us, a perceptual barrier between ourselves and others. So far, the closest we can get to making a deep connection with others is under the strategy of “mine.” My family. My boyfriend. My girlfriend. This is my country. By trying to work around this innate confusion through a semi-skillful use of “mine, a kind of false altruism arises that actually morphs a toxic sense of “me” into “mine.” ~ Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~~ "Diese wunderbare Welt ist eine spezialisierte Arena für eine evolutionäre Praxis. Wenn alles gut geht werden wir unsere Fähigkeit uns mit anderen zu verstehen teilweise perfektionieren, was die zweite große Lektion des Lebens darstellt. Das Hauptproblem, dem wir begegnen, ist ein natürlich vor uns aufsteig...

Losing Self-Pity and other Buddhist sharing.....

Once you've been looking after the needs of others for some time, caring for others using skillful compassion, you will definitely become more sensitive, tender and gentle. This might be a new feeling for you; it means that you’ve lost sel f-pity. After doing strong Mahayana practices, don’t regress to looking at yourself again because you’re going to cause yourself more pain than the self-cherishing that you had before! Now you’re not constructed to endure self-pity, and it hurts very badly when you do it.

Buddhism....but not slavishly so...

The innate confused and unenlightened view that perceives what is impermanent to be permanent, also induces the experience of otherness. With effort, serious meditators can cause themselves to feel authentic oneness, where there is no dist inction between themselves and others. However, in a skillful step-by-step process of preparation for awakening, this feeling should not arrive prematurely. The great lesson of how to get along with others can become muddled by dogmatically pushing to see how we are all the same. Other versions: we come all from one consciousness, or everyone is me and I am everyone. To parrot these oneness philosophies, (common spiritual discussion ideas) without actually healing or correcting behaviors will not affect our personal truth place. In other words, although we may have abundant problems to repair in our relationships with others, instead many overlook the harm that we have caused others by affirming that there actually was no problem because we are...

What are some of the ways that we preserve the dharma for the future? Doing our practice, of course, but what about supporting or even starting a dharma center, so that others can come and hear the dharma? Wherever you are, why not invite  a Buddhist teacher to come to give a dharma teaching… even if it is in your home. You could organize dharma teachings in your home state or your home country and invite your friends and family. Invite teachers and do the activities to organize so that the dharma can reach many and help them to overcome suffering. Preserve the dharma by recording, transcribing, translating and caring for the teachings for others to receive them in the future. Perhaps you are even capable of not just recording and preserving, but disseminating the teachings that have been given. ~ Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~~ "Was sind einige der Methoden, mit deren Hilfe wir das Dharma für die Zukunft bewahren? Natürlich tun wir dies, indem wir unsere Praxis ausüben, aber wie ...
