Unbeing and Making your Bed

Student: Rinpoche, how would you describe formless realm beings?

Rinpoche: Although they do not have manifest bodies, they still are alive.
S: How do they expiate their karma?
R: They cannot while in that realm. That’s a problem.
S: Do they have perceptions?
R: They have no perceptions. The formless realm is not that easy for you as a human being to understand because all of your experiences are through body and mind; it is hard to understand being without them.
S: It feels like a stasis, though.
R: It is stasis. That’s right. ~ Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~~

Rinpoche: Bien que leur corps ne soit pas manifeste, ils sont quand même vivants. E: Comment épuisent-ils leur karma? R; Ils ne le peuvent pas tant qu'ils sont dans cet état d'existence. C'est un problème. E: Ont-ils des perceptions? R: Ils n'ont pas de perceptions. L'état d'existence sans forme n'est pas facile à comprendre pour vous en tant qu'être humain car toutes vos expériences se font à travers votre corps et esprit. You are actually capable of trusting yourself because your mind will eventually become your guru. However, it will be almost impossible for your mind to become guru unless you are open to being helped. True guidance toward the awakened state can only begin by seeing yourself as someone who is actually open to guidance. 
However, a premature tactic of trying to see one’s own mind as guru would be like wanting to bring all the cows into the barn to milk them by closing the barn doors while the cows are still out in the field. You can’t get milk from an empty barn.
It would be better to understand that it is possible to have self-respect as a practitioner and as an intelligent educated person while still retaining a mental paradigm of being open to guidance from those who have walked the path with success. This is how all of the sages and saints found reality. ~ Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~~

“Du bist tatsächlich fähig dazu, dir selbst zu vertrauen, denn dein Geist wird letztendlich dein Guru werden. Jedoch wäre eine voreilige Taktik, bei der man den eigenen Geist als Guru sieht, als ob man die Kühe zum Melken in die Scheune bringen wollte, indem man die Scheunentore zumacht, während die Kühe noch auf dem Feld sind. Du kannst aus einer leeren Scheune keine Milch herausholen.
Es wäre besser, zu verstehen, dass es möglich ist, als Übender und als intelligenter, gebildeter Mensch Selbstrespekt zu besitzen, während man noch das geistige Paradigma aufrechterhält, offen für Führung von jenen zu sein, die den Pfad erfolgreich beschritten haben. So haben alle Weisen und Heiligen die Wirklichkeit entdeckt.“

En fait, vous pouvez vous faire confiance car un jour votre esprit deviendra votre gourou. Cependant il sera presque impossible à votre esprit de devenir votre gourou à moins que vous ne soyez ouvert au fait de recevoir de l'aide. Des conseils authentiques à l'attention de l’état éveillé ne peuvent être initiés qu'à condition de vous envisager comme une personne véritablement ouverte aux conseils. Mais la tactique prématurée d'essayer de voir son propre esprit semblable au gourou serait comme de vouloir faire rentrer toutes les vaches à l"étable pour les traire en refermant les portes de l'étable alors que les vaches sont encore dehors dans le pré. Vous ne pouvez obtenir du lait à partir d"une étable vide. Il serait mieux de comprendre qu'il est possible de se respecter soi-même en tant que pratiquant et en tant que personne éduquée douée d'intelligence en même temps que de conserver quelque temps ce paradigme mental que de rester ouvert aux conseils de la part de ceux qui ont avancé sur la voie avec succès.
