Karma Train

Keep returning to high altruistic motivation if the mind drifts during meditation. The remembrance of high motivation is better than forcing the mind to memorize the parts of a virtuous object. Only one in a million meditators is competent to gently gather the mind back to that type of concentration when it has strayed. In my opinion, concentration will come naturally when the obstacles to concentration are gone. Begin by thinking about how wonderful it would be if all living beings were happy. ~Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~~

~ Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~~

Imagine that you're working on a steam engine train. You have been shoveling coal into the firebox for some time and are now going pretty fast down the track. Suddenly, you throw down your shovel and shout, "I don't want to go to that destination! Stop the train, I want to get off!"
This is like some people who begin a meditation practice to quickly gain peace and enlightenment while dissolving all their problems. However, like the train on its trajectory, it will take time to run out of steam and slow down the karma that you've fueled.
It takes time to change direction. Persevere..... it will be worth it! ~ Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~

~ Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~

Left unchecked, morals naturally decay in the human environment; isn’t that so? We want to feel uplifted by our scruples, but instead they easily erode due to trying to satisfy our wishes. For example, if you are a man, you want to feel that women are safe with you and if you are a woman, you want to feel that men are comfortable around you. However, in a world of unfulfilled desire, it’s easy to view the opposite gender as objects for our own
desire. The world cheers us on to see others as something to use for our own pleasure, such as sexuality and the world has become energized with the potential of sexual gratification as valid goals of life.
This isn’t only about sex, but all of the accoutrements of sexuality, such as clothing. Much of the clothing industry is geared toward helping us become the object to satisfy our own and others desires by disguising our appearance to make us look more enticing.
By objectifying others as something we can use, (should we make the effort and choose to), then our world has become divided. Half the world is our prey to use physically or even mentally. It’s possible to prey on others without even touching them; isn’t that so? Predatory perceptions and attitudes will eventually create a disregard for our own highest standards of wishing everyone to be equal.
It will take tremendous willpower to destroy this attitude, because the world encourages us in this attitude. Animal nature is celebrated, whether a man or woman. Even those that are not in a seductive lifestyle can become desensitized to the blatant disrespect of this aspect of ethics.
Nearly everywhere you are encouraged to see this world as potential for self-gratification. Whether that is a new car, a new suit of clothes that makes you look particularly attractive, or even a new sofa helps enhance the atmosphere of using the world.
Even a sincere Buddhist practitioner can see how easy it is to fail when there is something they want; they are willing to give up their moral position of seeing others as worthy of respect. ~ Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~~

People practice many varieties of generosity; however, a bodhisattva’s generosity practice is different from those. Newly enlightened bodhisattvas will still have mixed feelings about giving but bodhisattvas that have entered into a relationship with absolute perfection have an unforced and natural self-discipline.
Regarding generosity, they would affirm to themselves, ‘In the past, I have also practiced
seeing others as separate, needy and requiring my skillful care. Because many have benefited by this understanding of my relationship with living beings I wanted to continue to hold them in this special way so that I could gather strength in a deeper method. Now I must firmly close this lower attitude because there is an even better way that based in deeper vision.’
This better way is fully engaging in the practice of generous giving. This means that in the higher practices the advanced bodhisattva gives without regard for personal gain or evolutionary development. In this way, the bodhisattva attains a new way to work based upon the needs of others rather than yogic based on exalted feel-good feelings and abandons the higher bliss practices. This is because even with higher motivation to benefit all sentient beings, those practices still encourage the practitioner to look at themselves to judge their progress. The still higher practice of generous giving is based upon the needs of others. ~Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~~

~ Domo Gueshe Rinpoche ~ ~ ~

The dissolving of body and mind in accordance with your empowered meditation practice is not just poetic dharma but something that happens dramatically. Sometimes students come to me so worried and say, “During this very strong meditation, I really felt like I was dying.” I answer, “Yes, this is how dissolving happens. “ They repeat, “No Rinpoche, I really felt like I was dying!” “Yes, I understand.” “No, emp, I don’t think you
understand. It really, really felt like I was…” “Yes, I understand.” ~Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~~ (With practice, you actually will dissolve into emptiness without the feeling of dying.)

" - Domo Geshe Rinpoche ---

Refuge is in the mindspace where our ethics and standards are alive to help us through challenging situations.
Refuge is always present to guide us toward good choices in everyday life.
Refuge is the ultimate resting place of the mind. ~ Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~~

- Domo Geshe Rinpoche ---
