How to Become Enlightened Quickly .... and other Buddhist musings

Image
A number of years ago, I was approached by a fellow who said to me " Tell me one thing that I can do to become enlightened as I don't have time to study all of the scriptures and meditate." "Certainly", I responded. "At the end of this lifetime, do not be reborn. Do you think that you can do that?" "I don't think so", he answered. "Then you better study and meditate" ~ Domo Geshe Rinpoche "Vor einigen Jahren trat ein Mann mit der folgenden Aussage an mich heran: 'Bitte nenn mir ein Ding, das ich tun kann, um erleuchtet zu werden, denn ich habe nicht die Zeit, um alle Schriften zu studieren und zu meditieren.' 'Klar doch', sagte ich. 'Werde am Ende dieses Lebens nicht wiedergeboren. Meinst du, du kannst das schaffen?' 'Ich glaube nicht', antwortete er. 'Dann solltest du lieber studieren und meditieren.' - Domo Geshe Rinpoche --- taken at the end of summer retreat 2015.....

Stuck in the Head and other Buddhist musings

Image
It's easy for people to “fall” into disrepair and lose their way in life. Some people have their identity and even their life force energy stuck in their head. Others have inappropriate energies stuck in their navel which becomes contaminated by feelings of wishing bend others to their will. When heavy energies are inappropriately engorged in the root chakra, those people are almost helpless be fore their own mind that has become habituated to lust. Buddhist purification practices help dissolve inappropriate energies which have become stuck, heavy, polluted, and which tend to gather other inappropriate and unpurified energies to oneself. For example, someone with inappropriate sexuality will often find themselves surrounded by others with troubled sexuality and complain, “It’s not just me. This is the way the whole world is,” but that is not so. I have also met judgmental people with strong feelings of superiority, and very little energy in their root chakra but are just as bad ...

Sectarianism is a poison preventing people from having a choice to follow the path of their heart, whether that would be practicing Islam, wanting to explore the teachings of another religion, or Buddhists who are interested in reading and thinking about the spiritual poetry of Rumi, such as myself. There is a spiritually healthy dance that affirms the commonalities rather than emphasizing the di stinctions between religious thought. Perhaps, while discussing religion with Christian or Islamic friends you might find it good to focus on the many points of similarity rather than arguing and disturbing their mind. They might eventually feel that what you are actually saying is that your religion is better than theirs. Student: This makes perfect sense to me, but there are also advices…I think even in the Buddha’s teachings, not to get too wrapped up in another set of teachings, and there must be some good reason for that. My question is, is that because when you start to practice...

It is wiser to consider that a spiritual relationship should be to the Buddhadharma and to your mentor rather than pinning your hopes of perfection on other sangha members. If you get along with others, that is a plus, but if you find someone who offendeth thee... do not stop practicing but get your priorities straighter. - Domo Geshe Rinpoche --- instigate kindness Experiencing complicated karma is always hard and unpleasant work. The path of dharma has been crafted…not just since the time of Lord Buddha Shakyamuni, but for millions and billions of years. The dharma is not just in this world system but in myriad world systems. Even at this very moment, living beings are learning how to hold themselves in virtue in order to be seen and assisted by enlightened beings. - Domo Geshe Rinpoche -- The debt of gratitude that we owe to all living beings is enormous because we have become spiritually inclined under their care and guidance. It doesn't matter whether they were kind to us or harsh. ~ Domo ...

Can a Female Become a Buddha and other Buddhist Musings

Image
For as long as women are secretly or overtly considered inferior, for that long the discussion will go on whether or not a female can become a Buddha. It would be natural for many people to be confused because... of course, an inferior being cannot simultaneously be a superior being. - Domo Geshe Rinpoche --- Our own minds are in communion with (or have the potential to) align with reality or illusion in specific ways that are directed by inner and outer laws of deeper physics. When we follow these natural laws we can then see how the important discussion of reality can change to more sophisticated methods of self-discover...

Wisdom is a gift from your future. Experience is a gift from your past.  ~ Domo Geshe Rinpoche **** "Weisheit ist ein Geschenk aus deiner Zukunft.
