Monk Doctors, Reality of States of Mind and other Buddhist musings...

The analogy of prison to describe the human condition is accurate; to live in freedom as a prisoner. Not only that, but humans are able to observe other prisoners in far worse condition than themselves. We call one situation free and demo cracy, and another situation we call oppression, dictatorship, or slavery. Of course, that is true from one point of view, but from a place of higher truth, even the free are still imprisoned! Humans are imprisoned in a perceptual prison just as real (or more real) than iron bars. During the time when many Tibetans were jailed by the Chinese, those that were trained in the higher bodhisattva path and achieved enlightenment felt that a certain part never became imprisoned. Because of that, we were able to survive the experience of physical prison. Iron bars could not hold us, because we were already free! In spite of that, helper beings, such as incarnations of Buddhas, still required a great deal of conscious effort to prevent manifestations of ext...

Tibetan Village Monks, Buddhist Behavior, Installation of Buddha Statue and other musings...

Image
In Tibet, we had some village monks who were the “go to” person for anything that went wrong. A sick child, someone with problems that needed counseling, a student that didn't do well in school, marital problems, illnesses, births, and esp ecially deaths…. these were the work of the local monk. Often, the monk still lived in his family home in a little separate house under humble circumstances, doing prayer and ritual for others. These village monks ministered to the needs of their local people, not just in good times, but especially during hard times. In some ways, village monks were like your neighborhood modern Western healer. The village monk always had an open door to those in trouble and always had words of advice, constantly ready to quote the Buddha. Because they were humble monks with little education and training, usually his knowledge of scripture was not that great, however, he belonged to the village and the village belonged to him. Every village hoped to have one or...

Ringing in the Ears, Karmic Seeds and other Buddhist musings....

Image
If you are experiencing ringing in the ears without an accident or know cause, it's is likely that you are oppressively holding energy in your head instead of correctly in the heart center. Head centered thinking is suffering: more judgeme ntal and rigid thinking, tintinitis, headaches or even migraines, and difficulty feeling the body..... these are only a few of the drawbacks. You are literally hearing a feed back loop of activity of the processing center, the brain.

Gods are Real, Rich vs Poor and other Buddhist musings....

Image
Another type of equanimity is deliberately developed in Buddhist training: the dissolution of distinctions held between others and ourselves or between others and still others. The basic premise: all living beings seek happiness and avoid  suffering. To gain this important realization for yourself, remove the distinctions between the wealthy and the poor (in your estimation), or those who live in first world countries and those living in third world countries. Remove the perceptual barriers between the value you place on those who lived ten thousand years ago, those who will live ten thousand years in the future, and those who alive in the world right now. Further, disregard whether a person is a man or women, a doctor or patient, or younger or older than yourself. Do not determine the value of another based on whether they are Tibetan, Chinese or American. All differences are outside of the baseline that is common to all who enter into the human realm. This is dharma! ~ Domo Ge...

Unrealistic Expectations of Holiness and other Buddhist musings....

Image
The individual karma of living beings doesn’t only cause physical birth into a particular situation; their karma causes them to be relentlessly refreshed by emanation from their subtle, vibrational, personal core at each moment. There isn’ t a definitive way to state; “Now this person has been born into a certain form and will remain in that form until passing away”. More accurately, it’s impossible for individual form beings to go on existing for even one moment without an active emanation process. Busy, busy, busy world. There are countless billions of holographic emanations with billions of movie cameras recording impressions affecting each individual core. As the holographic experience basis modifies, the karma of a living being changes, instantaneously arising in new configurations. Rather than performing dreary religious duties to become holy, no one will become enlightened until the emanation process again works perfectly; it is a flawless, ffffflllllaaaawless, system and on...

Trapped by a Control Freak and other Buddhist musings

Image
A controller will often try to induce a compliant state by fear tactics. These strategies are usually successful because the victim wants to avoid conflict or violence or fears to displease the aggressor. Causing fear generally works best on the uneducated or those with poor self esteem. When someone who is educated or has confidence comes into contact with a controlling person, these same tactics  won't cause fear. It usually causes one or all of the following responses: indignation, aggressive defense, ridicule, or avoidance of control freaks. Buddhism focuses more on kindness as the method to help others, a natural outgrowth of compassion. Learning to be truly nice will lead to working cooperatively with those you want to help... culminating in the most genuine and honest state of mind: spiritual awakening. ~ Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~~~~ "Ein Kontrollmensch wird oft versuchen, durch Angsttaktiken einen gefügigen Zustand zu erreichen. Normalerweise sind diese Strategien erfol...
