The path of dharma has been crafted…not just since the time of Lord Buddha Shakyamuni, but for millions and billions of years. The dharma is not just in this world system but in myriad world systems. Even at this very moment, living beings are learning how to hold themselves in virtue in order to be seen and assisted by enlightened beings. - Domo Geshe Rinpoche -- The debt of gratitude that we owe to all living beings is enormous because we have become spiritually inclined under their care and guidance. It doesn't matter whether they were kind to us or harsh. ~ Domo ...

Can a Female Become a Buddha and other Buddhist Musings

Image
For as long as women are secretly or overtly considered inferior, for that long the discussion will go on whether or not a female can become a Buddha. It would be natural for many people to be confused because... of course, an inferior being cannot simultaneously be a superior being. - Domo Geshe Rinpoche --- Our own minds are in communion with (or have the potential to) align with reality or illusion in specific ways that are directed by inner and outer laws of deeper physics. When we follow these natural laws we can then see how the important discussion of reality can change to more sophisticated methods of self-discover...

Wisdom is a gift from your future. Experience is a gift from your past. DGR Showing kindness is the gift of mercy from higher being present in those who, like everyone, are suffering inside but choose to overlook their own problems. - Domo Geshe Rinpoche --- Evening of wonderful chamber orchestra in Berlin. My first time... it was wonderful  — The Buddha inspires us with his peace. In the Great Room at Norbu House, Lotus Lake Buddhist Center, Neillsville, Wisconsin. Luna and Chung Chung in discussion. Clinging, Grasping and other Buddhist musings

Image
I sometime go to estate sales to find inexpensive items that are needed for the retreat center. As I walk through the house I am often struck by sadness. Here are the objects that this unknown person found so important, that were regularly dusted and were well cared for. Perhaps that person would not even let others touch them. Now they are passed away without taking even one of their treasures w ith them. A price has been put on their precious objects... "Too high!" a potential buyer remarks and sets the fragile teacup down with a thud and reaches for another. Sometimes, I see a clinging spirit of the previous owner in a corner... still grasping toward their possessions. I again feel sad.

Story of a boy arriving alone to a remote monastery and other Buddhist musings

Image
A boy arrives alone to a remote monastery, sent by his aunt and uncle who can no longer care for him. Shamefaced, he is brought to the abbot. "Why do you look so unhappy?" "No one wants me, my parents died and my relatives feel that I am a burden to them. I have no value in this world!"  The abbot answered from deep wisdom, "I can see that your karma is close to being exhausted for family life, my  boy. Your karma has caused it to fall away. No matter how much you try to grasp at worldly satisfaction, instead your karma for non-attainment of desire has increased.  Now do not suffer, but rejoice! The Buddha has said 'come' to you."

When your karma is dharma, you are halfway home

Our world is our present field of challenges that are preventing us from an organic and natural evolutionary development. This is also the place and time where, (if all goes well) we will at last discover how to truly get along with others, one of the great challenges of life. With“others” always with us in one way or another, uncovering barriers to real openness is a pathway to higher insight.  The closest that most folks get to creating strong connections with others is by thinking of them as “mine.” My family. My boyfriend. My girlfriend. This is my country. This can easily lead to racism or other extremist views that denigrate those that are “not mine”. On the other hand, many spiritual seekers try to avoid the danger of a personal ego trip with a semi-skillful use of “mine” to include others as belonging to them. However, the problem of ego still remains because we have now extended the reach of “me” into “mine.” ~ Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~~ "Unsere Welt ist unser momentanes ...

Buddhist Meditation Experiences

Image
Rinpoche: We need a balanced mind to bring to our meditation practice so that stronger tantric transformational practices produce and advance our health and our healthy minds.  Student: Would there be a time when you’re like totally confused and you feel like you’re dying? R: If you are totally confused and feel like you are dying, this is not the time to be working strongly because the mind is  not balanced. The confusion would be the problem; not the ‘feeling like you are dying’ part. So, work on remedies for general confusion and the time for applying just any remedy would not be while feeling disoriented. Return to more preparation to make yourself stronger and more confident. Read about refuge, read your meditation sadhana, listen to dharma teachings, etc., like that. I feel that it will bring a different dynamic in that way. S: I’m trying to figure out... if it no longer feels like I'm dying, does it necessarily mean that I'm not doing it right? Isn't the outer mi...
