Buddhist musings for springtime........

Image
Two explanations of the same innate view Classic Buddhism describes the innate view as the error of taking what is transitory and impermanent as permanent. All suffering arises from this misknowledge. However, I have expanded this description to understand that the innate view also bestows a full but minimum set of perceptions that are needed to allow the transmigrating consciousness of a to-be-hu man to participate within the human realm. After the breakthrough of enlightenment, aware practitioners will not discard the minimal basic and now purified innate view but will mold it skillfully into a correct conventional view. Same innate view but a non-Buddhist explanation-- Within the deeper mind of every individual person are several carefully constructed base perceptions that must be present in order for them to participate in their human potential development within the human realm. We cannot damage our perceptions by pretending the world is not there, or that we are not here, in ord...

Becoming Liberated and other Buddhist musings....

Image
The promise of the Buddha to save all sentient beings does not mean that they will all enter the state of Buddhahood. There are many different ways to be saved, one of them is called liberation. The lower forms of liberation that living beings can enter would be a true cessation: the end of their spiritual search and future lives. However, that is not a bodhisattva altruistic goal. Rather, it is  to refuse the pull of the lower liberation in order to become even more skillful and benefit as many as possible. This is the way that bodhisattvas fully blossom and become buddhas.... eventually.

Message to Disappointed Bodhisattvas and other Buddhist musings...

Image
This is a message to all disappointed bodhisattvas to encourage those who are working for the benefit of all living beings. Remember that life is a continuous process of self honesty in order to mature correct self-awareness without falling into the seduction of wanting to become more powerful. Proper identity self-awareness is actually power itself. Why? Because nothing can harm you. There is  no safer position than holding no position at all. There is no safer agenda than holding no personal agenda at all. This is the real work and challenge within advanced practices of higher level Bodhisattvas.

Falling in Love with the Dharma and other Buddhist musings....

Sectarianism is a poison preventing people from having a choice to follow the path of their heart, whether that would be practicing Islam, wanting to explore the teachings of another religion, or Buddhists who are interested in reading and thinking about the spiritual poetry of Rumi, such as myself. There is a spiritually healthy dance that affirms the commonalities rather than emphasizing the di stinctions between religious thought. Perhaps, while discussing religion with Christian or Islamic friends you might find it good to focus on the many points of similarity rather than arguing and disturbing their mind. They might eventually feel that what you are actually saying is that your religion is better than theirs. Student: This makes perfect sense to me, but there are also advices…I think even in the Buddha’s teachings, not to get too wrapped up in another set of teachings, and there must be some good reason for that. My question is, is that because when you start to practice...

Enlightened Generosity and other Musings

Image
In the act of enlightened generosity, the doer, the action, and the receiver are all perceived as empty of inherent existence. By only intellectually understanding the non-inherent existence of these three elements that comprise higher generosity, one can generate a false realization that is not aligned with the awakening process. One might even gain a realization that is beneficial, but the enti re thought process is primarily a constructed educational realization. When making efforts to practice Bodhisattva type generosity, it is an error to believe that you are not real and the receiver is not real, but the action is real, or that you are not real, the action is not real, but the recipient is. Others who believe that only the action is real but the giver and the receiver are not real affirm the action of giving as the real thing that is happening, but it still lacks the marks of reality and is not a transcendent view. Lastly, the one who states that the action and receiver are i...

When your karma is dharma, you are halfway home

Our world is our present field of challenges that are preventing us from an organic and natural evolutionary development. This is also the place and time where, (if all goes well) we will at last discover how to truly get along with others, one of the great challenges of life. With“others” always with us in one way or another, uncovering barriers to real openness is a pathway to higher insight.  The closest that most folks get to creating strong connections with others is by thinking of them as “mine.” My family. My boyfriend. My girlfriend. This is my country. This can easily lead to racism or other extremist views that denigrate those that are “not mine”. On the other hand, many spiritual seekers try to avoid the danger of a personal ego trip with a semi-skillful use of “mine” to include others as belonging to them. However, the problem of ego still remains because we have now extended the reach of “me” into “mine.” ~ Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~~ "Unsere Welt ist unser momentanes ...

Science of Bodhisattvas

Image
There are important differences between the enlightened bodhisattva on the way to perfection and the buddha level action arm called an emanated bodhisattva. While the learner Bodhisattva struggles to understand higher functioning life due to residual stains of their consciousness, the emanated Bodhisattva (a nirmanakaya human being) only needs to really think about the concept carefully in order t o be able to remember. - Domo Geshe Rinpoche --- #domogesherinpoche ...
