Biggest Moon and the Sky

Image
Oh, the excitement of living in these times... so much to keep our minds busy! The biggest moon (in 18 years), the smallest man (until he passes away). The crookedest street, tallest, shortest, and on and on. Even small communities glow with artificial pride about their oldest school in the Midwest or their biggest corn festival. Some how, we get lost in craving the biggest or smallest, and no longer connect with our world in a healthy, normal manner. Does this strange pride in the unusual really matter? Let's delight in the full moon without needing to reference it's bigness by comparison to other full moons. Moon is full, sky is empty~ Moon never touches sky~ Sky never saw moon~ The eye craves their union ~ ~Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~~ "Oh, wie aufregend ist es, in diesen Zeiten zu leben... es gibt so vieles, was unseren Geist beschäftigt hält.

Time Flows Like a Lazy River

Image
We helplessly spend our days and hours in activities, whether those are of our own choosing or not. There is no way to save time to use it later, for example, to extend our lifespan by even one minute. Experiencing life in time is like being in the current of a lazy river, we are carried along in the flow of now, while events pass us by like floating flowers. - Domo Geshe Rinpoche ---"

Prayer for Mental Well-being for Suvivors of Japans Quake

Image
Hold them dear, our suffering mothers of our previous lives. Continue to pray for those suffering in Japan. The shock that numbed them is wearing off and many are only now beginning to experience trauma. Bless them and pray for their mental well being and quick recovery. - Domo Geshe Rinpoche ---

Aging and Refuge

Image
This morning I looked in the mirror to assess the changes brought on by aging. Yes... so far, so good. That does not mean I look younger than expected. That means that the signs of aging are progressing as expected. Not happy, not sad... This is dharma. Ja... so weit, so gut. - Domo Geshe Rinpoche --- The atmosphere of real refuge in the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha cannot be gained by three halfhearted mechanical recitations of the refuge formula in the morning and evening. Real refuge that has been cultivated by study, meditation, and logic will interpenetrate and surround you in an aura of new strength and self-confidence. You wi ll fee

Saving Daylight?.. Equanimity and other Musings

Image
We have been given one more hour of sunlight with daylight saving time... don't waste it.. bring the light into your heart and SHINE! Both a full glass and an empty glass are empty (or devoid) of the very thing we innately believe to be its claim to reality. That error is happening in our own minds, the glasses are simply there due to interdependent causes and conditions. Crystals are a mystery... and completely filled with rainbows! Only need a bit of sunlight to release them.. Think before speaking to edit a more compassionate or dharmic way of life The second kind of equanimity deliberately developed in Buddhism is training toward the dissolution of distinctions we hold between others and ourselves or between others and still others. The basic premise is that all living beings seek happiness and avoid suffering. To gain this realization, remove the distinctions between the wea lthy and the poor (in your estimation), or those who live in first world countries and t

Polishing the Diamond Mind and Reversing Harm

Image
The reversal of harm: from treating ourselves with compassion and blaming others to treating them with compassion and seeing self cherishing as the problem... this is dharma! - Domo Geshe Rinpoche -- - This week's FREE podcast by Domo Geshe Rinpoche "POLISHING THE DIAMOND MIND" - relevant to a all sincere meditators interacting with an increasingly challenging world. http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/domo-geshe-rinpoche-teachings/id387058479

Quantum Realities and Studies in Consciousness

Image
We can compare quantum realities with studies in consciousness to gain knowledge of various kinds of realities. Let's think about discrete quantum realities, each with a self-preserving structure. One can shift from one set to another such as the macro world of appearances and its underlying subatomic structure by using technology an d even mathematical theory. Consciousness can make similar shifts in perceptual structures because the mind is potentially flexible. It can occupy new sets of perceptions with effort, such as tantric visualizations and meditations. I have felt for some time that some mental disorders, such as schizophrenia and drug induced mental breakdown, or conditions such as some forms of autism, are disturbances of mixed or overlapping levels of consciousness. I call those mental illnesses that have been present for the entire life, a partial birth into the human realm. ~Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~~ "Wir können Quantenrealitäten mit Bewusstseinsst

Three Types of Spiritual Mind Training: Abandon, Overpower or Train

Image
To abandon the mind as useless is to seek cessation, the path of the arhat. To overpower the mind with happy and pleasant thoughts is worldly religions aim, reducing manifest suffering by distraction, which acts like a drug, making their adherents mindless. To train the mind into a pliable compassionate tool is to enter the path of aw akening of the Mahayana. Beyond the veils of the limited human perceptual realm is the beginning of another portion of the vast journey to perfection, our real home.
