Buddhist musings for springtime........

Two explanations of the same innate view Classic Buddhism describes the innate view as the error of taking what is transitory and impermanent as permanent. All suffering arises from this misknowledge. However, I have expanded this description to understand that the innate view also bestows a full but minimum set of perceptions that are needed to allow the transmigrating consciousness of a to-be-hu man to participate within the human realm. After the breakthrough of enlightenment, aware practitioners will not discard the minimal basic and now purified innate view but will mold it skillfully into a correct conventional view. Same innate view but a non-Buddhist explanation-- Within the deeper mind of every individual person are several carefully constructed base perceptions that must be present in order for them to participate in their human potential development within the human realm. We cannot damage our perceptions by pretending the world is not there, or that we are not here, in ord...

Blessing Like Sea Soaked Sand

Tibetan prayer flags... greeting cards of the gods! The sea will first soak the sand of the beach, testing it with sea waves in preparation for high tide. Like that, a good meditator will become "soaked" with blessings in preparation for the event of awakening! - Dom Geshe Rinpoche ---" Burnout is a painful yet depressing experience. In deeper burnout, the inner anxiety struggles with the life force energy that cannot be roused to function but is harassed to complete and debilitating exhaustion. The many burnout symptoms are similar for a healer, someone who works for a bank, or someone who works for them self. How ever, if you are burned out because you have a terrible boss and then r...

How Does the Buddha Touch Us?

Phenomena do not exist from their own side, they only exist as interdependent arisings; this is classic Buddhist thought. Although there are present objects already manifested, or about to manifest, from causes and conditions, there are also other classes of more subtle phenomena, which change what is destined, even without all the ca uses and conditions met! Subtle pressures, such as blessings from buddhas and bodhisattvas can penetrate the illusory realms to ripen living beings to the awakened state of reality, without regard to causes and conditions.
