Logic Like an Inept Surgeon

Image
In defending your viewpoint, you might say, "Well, partly it is like that, and partly like this." Then you have no penetration of the subject under analysis. This is like an inept surgeon trying to do heart surgery accidentally cutting a number of different organs, and saying, "Oh well. At least the heart got repaired." It does not help because you have mixed it, causing further confusion, whereas correct analysis is like the sword of Manjushri, driving it into the argument of your own view ~Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~~~ “ Logik ist wie ein unfähiger Chirurg Wenn Du Deine Anschauung verteidigst, sagst Du vielleicht: 'Nun, es ist einerseits so und andererseits so.' Dann durchdringst Du das zu analysierende Thema nicht. Dies ist so, als ob ein unfähiger Chirurg, der versucht eine Herzoperation durchzuführen, aus Versehen mehrere Organe anschnitte und sagte: 'Nun ja, wenigstens ist das Herz jetzt in Ordnung.' Dies ist nicht hilfreich, weil Du die Di...

Reality and Early Science Systems

Thirteen in a series . One of the obstacles to understanding reality is that your grasping is attached to your innate view that binds it to a compulsion to see it as real. It is then you will attempt to subjugate the analysis of ascertaining reality to your present understanding of your innate view as a demand for reality to be understood filtered through your innate view that you are not willing to give up. There is no transitional view to the emptiness of true nature. We cannot present a semi-truth other than the words that I use and what you are experiencing while reading these words that explain the nature of what you have not yet understood. This also includes the movement of your mind and thinking about how you feel about the experience " Well, I would like, and then it must…no, it is not that, and then oh, well I cannot…. " This activity of perception stimulating mental and energetic structures acts as a transitional view toward your understanding the nature of all ...

Reality and That Nameless Thing

Image
Sixth in a series. The very thing that your mind, holding the innate view, is trying to sit upon as the excellent support of it’s inquiry into valid cognition does not exist. That thing does not have a name. It is not called tree or body or self. It has no actual name, but it is something that you innately believe is there, and it is not! So, everything that has form cannot actually exist as form unless it is empty of essence. It is not the fault of form that it cannot provide you with the actual deep support that you energetically crave. Even more subtle forms such as a smoke, odors, and the sounds that surround you, and the impressions that are brought to you such as food and your interactions with it by tasting, are all equally unreliable as the excellent support of your craving for stability. Some wish to substitute the word matter instead of the word form. This is probably because matter, quite recently in fact, has been found to not be the solid thing we sense it is, and ev...

I Doubt That!

Although you have an interest in spiritual subjects, it is helpful to understand different kinds of mind, how they are produced, and what effects they have on your personal life. To understand the nature of mind is to understand the root of happiness and suffering. The study of Lorig, the nature and functions of the mind is introduced so that you become capable of discriminating between positive and negative minds and make strong determination to abandon negativity at the root, by your own decision. The many schools of Buddhism developed according to teaching lineages and philosophical points of view. This is not the emphasis of Lorig. We could spend time looking at this or that point of view or study who thought what and how that relates to another view. That is not a part of Lorig study, so we’re not going to do that. This is not the teachings on emptiness, not the teachings of healing techniques, or the Madhyamika Prasangika view. So I am telling you what it is not first. This is a ...
