Buddhist musings on Peace and Kindness....

Image
Defeat samsara. Rebuild peace faster than it is breaking up. - DGR -- The root, branch and flower of an mature spiritual person is unquenchable kindness. ~ Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~ "Wurzel, Geäst und Blüte eines spirituellen Menschen bestehen aus unstillbarer Güte." - DGR -- Remain in your majority for as long as possible. When you were a child you could not make your own decisions and were told what to do. It will be the same when you are old, others will tell you what to do, where to sit and what to eat. There are precious few years when you will be self directed.... use them wisely ~ Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~ "Bleibe so lange wie möglich mündig.

Love, Kindness and other Buddhist musings...

Image
Love relationships with family, friends and intimates are clues to help us wake up to notice the presence and needs of other. Seeking love is a low level spiritual practice that arouses feelings taking us out of ourselves. Improving and healing broken relationships also help awaken to a broader new world view where we are happy not to be the center of attention.  Unfortunately, the practice of l ove doesn't have very clear cut instructions and can soon become, ‘I expected him to give me something that I needed.’ The fact that it is a low level and interactive practice probably also means that others were not capable of giving that much. However, because we operate from our own expectations and not their expectations, projections of what they were ready to give us might far outweigh their actual capacity. When things get messy, maybe we get out our vacuum cleaner of love, and try to suck from them what that they likely do not possess. And that is okay for now, because this love thi...

Message to Disappointed Bodhisattvas and other Buddhist musings...

Image
This is a message to all disappointed bodhisattvas to encourage those who are working for the benefit of all living beings. Remember that life is a continuous process of self honesty in order to mature correct self-awareness without falling into the seduction of wanting to become more powerful. Proper identity self-awareness is actually power itself. Why? Because nothing can harm you. There is  no safer position than holding no position at all. There is no safer agenda than holding no personal agenda at all. This is the real work and challenge within advanced practices of higher level Bodhisattvas.

Passive Negativity and other Buddhist musings

Image
Passive negative thinking is delivered to us by media and other kinds of entertainment by displaying to us casual use of anger and violence. One of my students told me that she just glanced into another room of her home while her family wa s watching a violent TV show. Just at that moment somebody shot another person in the TV show. She reacted with unexpected visceral shock, as though someone was in the family home and shooting right there in her own safe place. We can eventually become inured to and accept acts of negativity as normal by the way media, including the internet and social media display graphic violence as part of everyday life. I have observed how television, and other media, moves the mind passively. All you have to do is sit down, assume your favorite position, maybe chin on your chest or lying on your tummy in front of the TV, and just let your mind go. You have become trained to move into a passive state that you might call enjoying television. ...

Choices and Buddhist Resources

Image
I have resources. Compassion, wisdom and kindness. Choosing to use these resources depends on my motivation. My motivation depends on my perceptions. My perceptions depend on my guidance. My guidance is the three Jewels. ~ Domo Geshe Rinpoche ~~~~~~~ "Ich habe Ressourcen. - Domo Geshe Rinpoche ---

Rough People and Buddhist Practice

Image
In Tibet, we insisted that qualified people do the hard work to gain spiritual development. They should also not complain how difficult it is, because they are receiving an opportunity to advance and be challenged in their practice in ways very different from the low expectations of common rough people. Common or stubborn people cannot, or will not, make much effort to gain inner development. However, more evolved people need challenges. It is not just a nicety to have a spiritual practice. Perhaps you are the kind of person who needs it, must have it. What we don’t want is to have spiritual opportunities but devolve into a common person because it seemed like everything came so easily. That person will ride on their own coattails, as they say, until the end of their life, and then realize, “Oh, I could have done more. I could have challenged myself more.”

What We Feel is Who We Are

Image
In the final analysis, what we feel is who we are, more than the knowledge collected, what we own or who we know. Our states of mind produce self induced feelings capable of resonating with higher or lower values in accordance with our nature. As we work to develop a nature of kindness toward all others, Buddhas and bodhisattva saints will shine their faith through us; we become transparent to higher ethics and standards. - Domo G...
