Our Illusory and Dreamlike Existence is Not a Problem!

Our underlying structural and manifest quantum existence is life in an illusory, dream-like manner. However, that is not our biggest problem, it actually isn’t a problem at all! Our main problem is how to interact with others sincerely and openly! We should work hard to develop meaningful methods, such as compassion, which will gain us quality experiences and skills to get along with others even better. Then, awakening will happen in an organic and natural way. Yes, life is illusory, but the lessons are real!

A Spiritual Education Prepares a Child to Live!

A modern education prepares the child to work but a spiritual education prepares the child to live! ~ Domo Geshe Rinpoche
A positive attitude based in spiritual values benefits everyone
It is wise to remain more quiet when we don't know.... However, if we are asked our opinion, honor the question by answering with sincerity.

Slanderous Humor and Buddhism

Will power is choice in spite of influences. ~ DGR ~~~The ten virtues and opposing non-virtues are generally taught as avoiding the ten non-virtues, because in order to apply beneficial effect, we first need to remove harmful effects and reduce their oppression, before we apply positive virtues. The other way to view this is to value the ten virtues as antidotes to the ten non-virtues; that is why they are taught together.
There are actually four non-virtues of speech: the first two are lying, and divisive speech/slander. This last one caused me to think about some jokes I heard recently. Humor is an area of interest for me; I suppose you could say a lot of fun since it’s about humor. However, I was surprised at the amount of rough humor, especially those that are more like divisive slander in intention. This one I don’t find funny, but I know it is rough humor by how it is worded. “Why did the chicken cross the road? Because he was pushing his F150 to the repair shop…

Wisdom and a Steady Flight

One person can do alot! Never be discouraged. ~DGR ~~~Wisdom can be perceived as a special interior light. This special quality of fully enlightened illumination is what shines in those who are fully awakened. It is so amazing, that the qualities of this brilliance are extolled in scripture and praises to the enlightened state and yet remains brilliance, which is both unimaginable and indescribable. It is possible to see many, many different kinds of inner light, but brilliance of wisdom is beyond that. In certain situations, one can see light, for example, hitting my head can cause me to “see stars.”
Some years ago I heard about a Hindu boy who gathered a number of Western adherents, teaching them how to find the light by training them to press on their eyeballs. Of course, when you press your eyeballs, you will definitely see light. He said that is the wisdom light and so he became very famous. Let’s not think that squeezing on our eyeballs will help us find the …

Optimism and Changing Difficulties

Optimism has at its core... optimizing! From the spectrum of the choices of words, thoughts and attitudes, an optimist will make the most of a situation by selecting only those marked "positive." Lifting those attitudes to the light of expression, the optimist encourages poor choices to languish by disuse. Let's try to extract the essence of auspiciousness or even enhanced luck by the distillation of our choices!
