Becoming Liberated and other Buddhist musings....

The promise of the Buddha to save all sentient beings does not mean that they will all enter the state of Buddhahood. There are many different ways to be saved, one of them is called liberation. The lower forms of liberation that living beings can enter would be a true cessation: the end of their spiritual search and future lives. However, that is not a bodhisattva altruistic goal. Rather, it is to refuse the pull of the lower liberation in order to become even more skillful and benefit as many as possible. This is the way that bodhisattvas fully blossom and become buddhas.... eventually. ~ Domo Geshe Rinpoche ****

- Domo Geshe Rinpoche ---

Generosity increases as one traverses stages of enlightenment. This is a unique aspect of higher forms of bodhichitta toward full Buddhahood as described in Mahayana scripture and life stories of the great Buddhist saints. For those who would like to explore this further, read the Jataka Tales describing the previous lives of the Buddha. There you will notice a great variety of different types of generosity that were practiced by the Buddha as a bodhisattva. Exploring levels and strategies of generosity are a feature of higher Bodhisattva stages. ~ Domo Geshe Rinpoche ****

- Domo Geshe Rinpoche ---

Seeing is believing ... is a mechanistic view Believing is seeing ... is a spiritual view ****

It was about this time a couple of years ago, I meditated with a number of students in a quiet corner in Machu Picchu, Peru. It is still fresh in my memory

Gender is only vitally important during the time of reproduction ****
Das Geschlecht ist nur zu Zeiten der Fortpflanzung wesentlich" - Domo Geshe Rinpoche ---

Progress in meditation is like a scientific procedure, each step must use clean, abundant and usable energy to fuel a quality practice. If that was not so, anyone with high energy, such as a child on sugar, would be suitable for higher levels of virtue and generation of wisdom.
Kids on a sugar high would then be like Buddhas, advanced beings simply by their great capacity for energy production. Of course, most folks don't have universal altruistic motivation, nor are they actually making efforts, they are simply a raw source of energy without applying structure, practice or controls, (which is what mothers complain about, but probably not these same words.) ~ Domo Geshe Rinpoche ****

- Domo Geshe Rinpoche -

  1. The work continues no matter what stage of development. Each step one is clearer in energy, motivation, and thought. One is also more capable of generosity and compassion and love based in action.
