What are some of the ways that we preserve the dharma for the future? Doing our practice, of course, but what about supporting or even starting a dharma center, so that others can come and hear the dharma? Wherever you are, why not invite  a Buddhist teacher to come to give a dharma teaching… even if it is in your home. You could organize dharma teachings in your home state or your home country and invite your friends and family. Invite teachers and do the activities to organize so that the dharma can reach many and help them to overcome suffering. Preserve the dharma by recording, transcribing, translating and caring for the teachings for others to receive them in the future. Student: Is it important to know when you have exhausted a particular karma? How do I know so that I don’t continue to look for certain things? You mentioned before that maybe someone doesn’t have karma for marriage. That’s one example ; maybe I don’t have the karma, yet still pursue the things that maybe I don’t have karma for. How do I know when a karma has been exhausted so that I can move on? Rinpoche: Good luck! Isn't this a perfect example of the human dilemma? It’s important that we make effort to do the best we can. This is skillful means that each of us needs to continue to improve in our activities. You must figure these out by your own capacity. Tulku means reborn or reincarnated one of a previous lama of a specific inner and outer lineage. There are four main methods that create Rinpoches. Some Rinpoches today are not tulkus but are blessed into the memories of a previous lama by  a realized lama that knew the previous one. This is not an authentic tulku arisal but is still quite unusual these days. There are those who are given a special mind transmission of another lama and then told they are such and such a name but there is actually not any connection between the child and the previous. This is also not a tulku. There are others who are little more than strategic political appointees. Perhaps the parents are wealthy and can support the monastery or are wishing to have status as parents of a Rinpoche. There are many political type appointees.
